Love you Alison but I needed to write in to tell you to stop saying Oliver would have died without the attack. I worry that the owners of the malamute might not pay Olivers vet bills and would use your own words against you. Just trying to do my part as a BoBo Boy.

Ya, you need to stop beating yourself up with ways you could have prevented this… You know what would have prevented this??? The other dog being on a fucking leash…

Alison your tendency seems to be to blame yourself for things or think you are being neurotic, to feel guilty and so forth (a LOT of people have this bias, you are in good company). Know that however you grieve is ok. Whatever you feel is valid, simply because you feel it. Get through things at your own pace and do it your way. You are a good person – therefore, whatever you do in a scary, sad and overwhelming situation is most likely the best you can do at the time. I am 150% confident in this. Therapists are great for support, helping us think and process. But therapy is also hard. Some things she says are going to stick in your craw a bit but it doesn't mean you are incorrect, or being given permission, or whatever. It means it is something to chew on and consider, should you want to or be able to at the time. Personally I am a S L O W mover when it comes to processing certain things, so I can relate to feeling like I need to do something like look at Oliver's records as part of your processing. Not to say you are moving slow, just that you mentioned Daniel is out of stage one and you are not (or weren't yet). Anyhow, HUGS!
