Jeff Dye, comedian and host of MTV’s Money From Strangers stopped by this episode of Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend to talk about his perfect teeth and chiseled jaw line as well as his tousled hair and lanky physique. Actually, that’s not true, and he thinks he’s only good looking “for a comedian,” but please. Anyway, we discussed his turbulent upbringing in the Seattle area, a health scare, religion, Ashton Kutcher, relationships, self-sabotage, dogs and flirting. We also shared our google search histories and then Alison told an embarrassing story while Gary shook his head at her and quietly judged her. Plus we tried to peel back some layers of the onion that is Gary and what did we find? More layers! The man is a riddle wrapped in stoicism wrapped in hair gel. Also Alfred Schulz stopped by to offer more Things You Never Hear People Say (with more dairy) and we did a round of Just Me Or Everyone (click here to see the JMOEs we put on the screen) and HGFY.

Alison, you're awesome! I almost want to leave a poopy comment so that I can get a Hey Hey GFY, but i just can't do it. Keep up the great work! Wait, I can kind of make a poopy comment, if saying I wish i could get a new podcast every day is being poopy, if so, I'll go F myself.
i think alison and gary collectively said cheese douche in this episode… go team!

Alison and Gary, do you two feel like you know Jeff good now?
Alison and Gary, do you two feel like you know Jeff good now?
Have listened since podcast numero uno, but this one really slapped me in the face with its awesomeness. I can't pinpoint what, exactly, made it so excellent – perhaps Jeff Dye just plain kicked ass over every other guest, ever. Seriously loved him.
Anyway, I do know what brought me here to comment: Alison beating herself up after her embarrassing story. Please please please, don't EVER stop with the truthful sharing!
I am so fucking tired of feeling like I am the only one who is a mess. It seems like on a daily basis, I think that EVERYONE BUT ME is a brimming with confidence and capably marching forward with children and stressful jobs and workouts and eating healthy and making it all appear smooth and EASY. Meanwhile I have no kids and a wonderful job and my health and a happy marriage – my life is easy but does not FEEL easy, because I am packed full of self-doubt while striving for perfection. I desperately wonder when the hell I will feel like I've got my shit together like everyone else.
But I think damn near every woman feels this way, and 99% of us never feel like we have our shit together – so it's refreshing to hear Alison talk about it and show that vulnerability. I know we would all benefit from the realization that those women we envy might have anxiety attacks at 3am or wish they hadn't had kids or hate their job or their body or WHATEVER.
We need to realize that perfection does not exist and it's a complete waste of our lives trying to reach it. Instead, let's be real, let's share our embarrassing stories, let's ask for help when we need it, and let's fucking LAUGH at ourselves & our foolishness. It's the only way to go. Just ask my new best friend.

You can say all that again
By the way, as well as the trailblazers, Paul Allen owns a little something known as the Seattle Seahawks. Jeff and Gary may owe Alison an apology

I really loved this episode! Favorite so far. Jeff Dye may be one of my new favorite people. I related with him a lot and he made me feel less weird about some of my opinions which seem unusual, like having sympathy for the bad guy in a terrible situation. I also enjoyed and wound up with a lot to consider from the relationship discussion in this one. Keep up the good work!

That was me, above. I'm replying to myself.
Agree completely on the quality of the episode, which was outstanding. The finest moment being, of course, when Gary alerted the listeners that a Sports Reference had been made.
Jesus, I was there were an “Alison Rosen's SportsWorld” segment on this show. I've tweeted the idea to her more than once. I think she thinks I'm kidding.

Fantastic pod as per usual. Three things–
In response to Gary's query, I agree that the out-of-sequence JMOE's are confusing for the listener. Glad he brought that up actually because I always wonder about that.
Secondly, totally relate to Alison's curiosity about the off-the-grid ex. Even if you no longer have feelings for that person, you can't help but wonder what happened to them if they were at all a significant part of your life.
Thirdly, Jeff Dye IS ridiculously good-looking.

Last comment, I promise.
Is it really possible that Jeff Dye, from Seattle, had no idea about the movie Singles? Can that be? How old is he, 12?
you are so gorgeous lets get married.. Can you cook anythin?

Since we're new best friends i'd like to formally invite you to hang out with me in Seattle. It's a great place! Jeff was wrong though, not all of us hate Starbucks 🙂
Love you Alison! Keep up the fantastic work.

Hey Alison,
I think this podcast was especially good. Alison, you are always good, but you were especially on your game on this one. Do you think it is because you thought the guest was handsome? 🙂 Ha, ha…
Also, as a huge podcast fan who happens to be Christian, I really appreciated the gracious things Jeff Dye said about his past associations and friendships with Christians – even though he said he no longer considers himself a practicing Christian. And BTW, since I am from Portland, I liked the nice things Jeff said about my stomping grounds.
But Alison, I do have a small complaint: though I loved this podcast, I was really looking forward to hearing your last live show at Nerdmelt. I was just wondering – was that show recorded, and if it was, do you plan on offering it as a podcast? With Pete Holmes there, I can only imagine that you two blew the roof off of that place!
In fact, I think the Nerdmelt Live Show would have been a podcast that I would have paid a couple of dollars for; so if you guys had the foresight to record it, maybe that is something you all should consider.
Thanks again for the great podcast, Alison, and I love you on the Adam Carolla show. I have been meaning to say this a long time, but DO NOT listen to any of those ass wipes you try to put you down and say you talk too much on this show. THEY ARE WRONG!
And I am not just saying that to be nice. Adam Carolla is the MASTER, and he has turned his podcast into a well-oiled machine. YOU ARE THERE FOR A REASON: YOU ADD TO THE SHOW AND HELP ADAM DO IT BETTER. In other words, in my opinion, you and Bald Brian are ADAM'S CATALYST(S), and he KNOWS THAT. That is why he keeps you there. So both you, your audience, and YOUR HATERS need to realize that.
So here is my message to Alison's HATERS: if you don't like her on Adam Carolla's show, take it up with Adam, AND GO “EF” YOURSELF!!!
Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.

I found this to be an entertaining show, except for the part where Jeff Dye was talking about harassing people by putting them on his TV show without their consent. I'm sure Jeff Dye didn't mean to come off like a douche bag when talking about using people on his TV when they adamantly didn't want to be on it, but he did.
“Knowing all of the legal tricks” goes two ways: If you sue a major corporation for something like this, they will likely settle out of court with you because they don't want the bad press or the extended legal fees of going to court. Enough lawsuits = MTV asking themselves if the show is worth the headache = no more TV show to put people on when they don't want to be.
Moral of the story: If you are intentionally deceiving someone in an effort to make money off of them and they don't want to have any part in it, leave them alone.

Didn't underwood do porn? So she probably didnt care too much if, while she was taking photos(or making “art”) for other dudes, he was doing whatever the fuck(fuck you; for other girls).
Don't be a skank, and find a real man.
