The Salmon Incident, Al’s a Cat, Elevator Fears

Greg and his somewhat productive cough are back which means this episode wastes no time in jumping into the most important topic of the day: Jenna and #AL’s avocado tree. Also we talk about Daniel and my upcoming trip, The Salmon Incident, what might be on your phone, superhero comics, what kind of kids we all were and whether we wanted to be older, get rich quick schemes, male vs. female therapists and therapy in general and plane and elevator fears and by the way I am still haunted by the elevator discussion! We also did a round of Just Me Or Everyone.

Alison and Daniel, I live in Brooklyn but my family lives in the trees of. CT. For ten years I've tried all the methods to get home. Without a doubt the best bang for your buck is metro north.

Amtrak is only marginally nicer but can cost heaps more. The bus is like spending four hours sitting in a John Carpenter film. And driving if you don't have your own car isn't worth rental cost.

I just recommend taking a taxi to Grand Central, starting with lugging luggage on the subway will leave brows too sweaty and backs too sore. Additionally there will be so many trains leaving the station during the holiday season that when you arrive rather than taking the train that leaves in three minutes, take the one that leaves in nine. That way you will be able to get good seats next to each other and room for your luggage.

Finally in regards to last week's episode something that has been a miracle sleep aid for me in the past is THC tinctures and CBD oil. Juse one or two droppers of the THC tincture in a glass of water before bed doesnt get you high at all but it calms your body down and eases you into sleep. The CBD oil is a great new discovery, it is a concentrated oil of the other main component in cannabis but doesn't react with your brain the same as thc, so you get all of the medical benefits of Marijuana without the someone's inconvenient psychosymatic effects. It's amazing for anxiety and nausea as well, again just a dropper in a glass of water.

I live in an apartment building with elevators & I dropped my keys down once. I went to the doorman & told him what happened. Apparently, this is a common event. He explained that it's usually a phone that falls, and they don't ever survive. He said that someone would stop the elevator & go down to the bottom of the shaft to retrieve it. I got them back a few hours later & all was well. So, if you are ever to drop your keys down a shaft, check to see if there is a doorman in the building first. 🙂 These days, I hold on to them tightly each time I go in. I also keep my phone in my purse. Seriously.

I use to live in CT and metro north is the way to travel between the city and CT. Currently I live in Nepal and Sherpas are great and their services reasonably priced. But the airway to get them to New York is a small fortune. Also the jet lag may effect their work schedule. I am sure they can use your business though. Might make an interesting podcast. I am sure their would be jmoe(s) would be things no one on America ever thought of. Hmm international Jmoes that could be a new segment.

Around 2009 there were a lot of elevators falling all around Japan.

I have to agree with Greg's wife on the RSVP thing. Sure, if one couple doesn't respond it's no big deal. But if everyone thinks the same way, no one will respond and the party planner has no idea how many to plan for.

Agreed. I was surprised to hear so many arguments against RSVPing on this episode. I was raised that if someone is kind enough to invite you to a thing, even if it is something / someone you have no interest in, you need to be kind enough to say if you will attend or not.

Greg, you describe yourself perfectly as an ENFP and I wonder if you have ever looked into that. It has been a huge help in understanding the part of my personality I present that feels separate from my true self. I lot of people describe this phenomenon but it is different for us. Something to look into maybe. Many famous writers and performers were/are ENFP
