Once again, I love when a Monday guest is also a big fan of ARIYNBF and can refer to various episodes! MK (as Jenna called her on her podcast) seems reasonable and open minded, which is proven by the fact that she is a big ARIYNBF fan even though she is right leaning.:)

I really appreciated how Jeff chimed in when he did. I think what he said regarding religion being used to justify certain beliefs that can lead to other peoples' lives being affected was extremely important. It's all great when people can have their own opinions and agree to disagree, but when those opinions turn into votes that turn into legal issues that affect the way people live, it becomes injustice. Glad to hear Jeff address his thoughts!

Really liked this episode.
Really liked this episode.
I agree. I appreciated Jeff's contribution and I appreciate how calm the discussion was, even when they might've disagreed.

This was one of my favorite Monday shows. I consider myself a left leaning independent, but I vehemently disagree with the left when it comes to policing speech, shouting down people expressing unpopular opinions outside of the mainstream, etc. I don't get too excited about most political issues, but for some reason this one worries me. If social media has taken it this far in 5 years, where will we be in another 5? People scolding each other and pointing them out for things they may SAY really seems almost fascist, to me.
I probably don't agree with MKH on a ton, but I'm pretty much in lockstep with her on this one, and look forward to reading her book. I also agree with the JMOE that she seems pretty awesome, overall.

The vagina monologues folds in on itself…come on man!
Gay Marriage: Alison, it's not going to seem like it, but here is a little gift for you. Do you view marriage as a right, a freedom, a benefit/entitlement, or a restriction?
And what about not allowing someone's “religious” views, also known as
deeply held sincere beliefs, to inform their vote- and thus because we
have chosen democracy- affect the lives of others?
For
example, many times I have talked to liberals who say that public
schools are completely neutral because they disallow (mainly mainstream)
religion. Negating a belief (or a freedom) because one has labeled it a
“religious” belief (using tax-payer money, I might add) isn't being
neutral.
Btw, you didn't really seem to understand the gun question. What (I think) the asker is asking is “do you think the anti-gun bias is making people tend to be irresponsible with guns, thus causing a lot of the problems.” We teach people how to drive and then let them lose and trust them with something that can and do kill more people than the average gun. If we treated cars like we have treated marijuana, not being allowed to research or talk about the truth for so long, would people tend to not handle their high and their driving as well as they might if we talked in more reality-based terms. Another analogy is how liberals view sex education in school- by not teaching anything but abstinence then a lot of people get shot…oh wait…fuck it…or don't…nevermind.
