Great job, Alison! This was a delicate situation and you rose to the occasion! While you related to her and shared some of your feelings dealing with a similar situation, you were able to keep from piling on and going down a rabbit hole with her. You let the story be about her with just enough empathy from experience to make the interview feel warm, engaging and interesting, but not a b***** fest. There were certainly times when you could have thrown in some jabs where you refrained, particularly the fact when Lisa mentioned that she got severance pay and you didn't tell her that you didn't (as answered on the Crabfeast episode when they asked you about it.). You kept control of where the interview went and it paid off. I'm impressed and proud to be such a big fan!:)

My first listen to the podcast, just because of Lisa, but it won't be the last. And can't wait to follow Lisa May on her next broadcasting gig, too!

She wants a female co-host. If only there were such a thing as a talented, available, female talk show host.

Ralph is a huge douchebag and honestly so is the rest of the Kevin and bean show… I get the change, but I feel that they all decided that Ally Mckay was a better addition to the show than Lisa.. They even admitted that they felt that way for a few years (Lisa's traffic being irrelevant). They can talk about and explain everything the way they want but I don't buy it one bit.

The subject matter is hard to hear, but the voice isn't. Love and miss you Lisa May.

Great stuff Alison, I will have to listen to you more often.

I'm still not understanding something. Lisa May was removed from the Kroq, but why was she fired from Metro Traffic. If Kroq didn't want her on the show shouldn't she just go back to metro traffic and do traffic as normal? I was hoping that Alison would have elaborated a little more. I love Lisa May. The interview was fantastic. You gave me closure. Thank you Alison. Now it's time to find a new show. Maybe I need to try the Woody show.

I don't know the Kevin and Bean show (just the name) but from listening to Lisa tell her story, I'm not surprised her fans reacted the way they did and I'm not surprised her story resonates with Alison fans (like me!).

You both seem like two very similar souls working in parallel universes. Please remind me not to ever set my sights on being a female sidekick on a successful radio show/podcast. Not yet a problem seeing I'm currently a male. But hey, there are such things as sex changes…

Jeezz Louise, not being able to be to talented/funny or take too much space compared to the num-nut mediocre male hosts, that's cold! And job security: NONE!

As per usual, great Interview Alison!

The girl on the Woody show is insufferable. The rest are pretty funny but the listeners are pretty (as someone on another board said) Raider Nation.

Wow… I feel like I'm listening to my “layoff” (firing) experience after 7 years, down to the question of “why didn't anyone talk to me if there was a problem.” There WAS no problem, only that it's such a boys' club in entertainment. I was replaced (by a man), and discussions were being had about it months before I was let go. So embarrassing that some (if not all) the people I worked directly with knew before I did. Unless you're young and hot, you have to know the right way to be aggressive and in their faces or you're passed over — or you're expected to shut up and know your place. Am I bitter? Of course. But it's nice to know that at least I'm not alone in my experience. New fan, thanks for the great interview — good luck to both of you, the egos run hard in this town.

Agreed. I selfishly wanted Alison to answer some of the questions she herself asked; “Who there are you most disappointed with?” As always, she conducted an A+ interview, and I am now a Lisa May fan. I understand any future collaboration between the two of them would face long odds, but I would count myself as a supporter.

Let it not be lost that Lisa agreed to be interviewed by Alison after she did a little investigating, listened to a couple of her interviews and determined that Alison was an impressive interviewer. It's awesome that she actively decided that Alison was the person to publicly discuss all of this with for the first time!

Conspiracy theory alert: Alison and Lisa May's firings are not just similar, they are completely intertwined.

    Here's how the theory goes:

Adam Carolla's not entirely happy with Alison's work on the show. Maybe it's her attitude, her improv, or lack of shared interests. Maybe he's just an asshole. Whatever the reason, he's debating a change.

And then he hears word that local personality Allie MacKay is available and looking for work. I've never actually heard Allie on the show, but according to Lisa May, she has a reputation for doing characters, and being interested in sports. Bingo. Adam fires Alison, with an eye to replace her with Allie MacKay or someone like her.

He doesn't just want to hire Allie as a straight replacement, so he sets up a set of “audition” weeks like he did with Alison originally. Familiar voice Gina Grad starts it off, but Allie MacKay is brought in a few weeks later (she did her week in February, I believe.)

The week goes well, and Adam decides to formally offer Allie the job. Hearing this, Kevin and Bean decide that THEY would want Allie instead. They like her more than their current sidekick Lisa May, just like Adam does. Being at a station like KROQ, they have more means than Adam's pirate ship, and outbid for her services.

Rebuffed, Adam gives up on his protracted “audition” process, and just hires the de facto option in Gina Grad. He then claims that he never really needed much from that position in the first place.

Bottom line, Alison and Lisa May both lost their job in the same series of events.

Now, for anyone who thinks this is too far-fetched, it's not. These personalities are all local to LA, and Adam has a connection with the Kevin and Bean show and the KROQ station in general. They would have presumably known about the hirings and firings of each other's operation and been able to act accordingly.

My first thought when I heard about Lisa May's “dismissal” was: “No!!! It's like what happened to Alison Rosen all over again!” Then my second thought was: “Lisa should do Alison's podcast.” And now, here we are. So glad that you two got together and that you shared the conversation with your fans. Onward and upward.

Thank you Alison for interviewing Lisa May. I'm not a regular listener of your show but I'm happy that you gave Lisa May a platform to share her side of the story. When the news first broke on K&B I was shocked, saddened, disappointed on the way the situation was handled, and felt exactly like you said “it's like a divorce”. Yet we didn't get a chance to pick what parent we got stuck with.
It's great to hear Lisa's voice again! You are missed!! I can't wait to hear what you do next.
