Hey! Dustin Goot is alive and well!
Hi Alison! I love the new show. I don't know where you are in the fertility process, but if your vision has changed, you should urgently contact your doctor. Certain drugs may have that as a bad side effect. Not trying to be Debbie Downer.

#1. Have you considered having the Thursday show guests introduce themselves? I know on the Dana Gould Hour, they used to do a very quick “I’m _______ ____________, and this is the sound of my voice” at the top of a segment when it had several guests on at the same time, which is something I think they borrowed from traditional radio. #al and Jordan Morris have similar voices, as do Daniel and Dustin/Trevor.
#2. Thursdays are a good time slot for the show because it gives people something to look forward to; Friday already does that by itself, but Thursday does it on a somewhat unique day (This is why NBC etc used to schedule so many of their big shows on Thursdays, now that I think about it- to lead into the weekend instead of the other way around). Monday is also a good spot for the interview show.
As far as adding a third day of programming, it would depend on what you’re planning for an additional show. If they’re all going to be solo minisodes like the last one, that’s a little different from another interview, or a chapter of What to Expect…, etc. Assuming they are somewhat random in nature (but a non-interview), I guess maybe Sunday? There are logistical problems, but I would imagine they’d be recorded earlier in the week.
The problem is that Monday and Thursday are both a good distance from one another, and so it allows both to have a little breathing room for regular listeners of both. Adding something on Tuesday might sorta step on the Monday show a bit, but maybe Wednesday would work, since it could be a lead-in for the end-of-week Thursday show.
yes for Goot

Studies on rats point to random reward reinforcement as most effective once the habit is established.
Alison, you are going to owe me a beer.
Make a daily show where you randomly call the fan and interview them. No prep, 30 minutes or some. Bam!
We are Goot!
(It had to be said.)

Perhaps it's not medication related. Age 40+ is the normal time people suddenly find they need reading glasses. Like a optometrist once told me, “welcome to middle age”.

That was my thought as well. For the record, I first needed reading glasses at age 6. Joy!

It only alarmed me because it sounded like it could be a rent significant change, maybe more dramatic than one would expect in the normal course of aging. Or I could just be reading into it. Just what came to mind.

I love Jenna, but as a native Utahn myself (Salt Lake City) it kinda bugs me when she talks about Utah, because we seem to have a difference of opinion. For example, there is seriously no difference between Northern and Southern Utahns. Huge numbers of people there have the Utah accent (crick instead of creek, mondee, tuesdee, wednesdee…, mountain the the middle 'nt' mysteriously removed, crayon as cran, roof as ruf, etc).
Also, Al, I'm sorry but you are incorrect about the trampolines being there because Utah doesn't have a lot of basements. Unlike CA, Utah as oodles of basements. The reason there are so many trampolines are because there are SO MANY KIDS.
As I write this it seems petty…but I just had to get it off my chest! In the end, we are both Utahns which means we are both awesome and for that reason, plus the fact that Jenna is just sweet and wonderful anyway, I'm going to take a deep breath and let this one go.
Much love!

My love, I know that I'm late weighing in and that Wendy made it through surgery and is doing well. But I just wanted to drop a note that I totally get what you are saying about the whole “aw, if she's spayed she will never be a mommy” thing. However, it's super duper important to spay and neuter (I know you know this, just gotta say it and explain why because I AM A CONTROL FREAK haha) and honestly Vets and other animal advocates have said over and over again that dogs are not like us humans in our sentimentality for babies. WE have that because our babies need us for such a long time in order to survive into adulthood and then reproduce themselves – dogs and cats are able to ditch mom after a few weeks and then get preggy themselves and on and on. Ya know what I mean? Oh, and the fact that we are able to engage in meta cognition, but I digress.
Example: once a cat or dog's baby becomes an adult the parent will treat him/her just like another animal (of course animals can bond super well and be best buddies regardless of blood relation). Anyhow, the point is, spaying and neutering is super duper important as there are so many homeless and abused pets that it makes me want to stick a fork in my eye and honestly, it does nothing bad emotionally or mentally to the pet to “fix” it. I personally think it makes their life better – they don't go into heat or have to deal with testosterone related aggression, etc.
