    haha…. hello Alison… what's new…. HILARIOUS!

I've listened to Adam Carolla since he first showed up on Loveline in 1994. I've always been an avid fan. As soon as you showed up Alison, I thought you were a tremendous asset to the show. Never in a million years would I have guessed that a “weak spot” in the show would have been you. Many times on the podcast, I'd skip the first part of the show and go straight to the news because that was often the best part of the episode. Normally when I hear about stuff like this, I don't care. But given my love for the show and the way this all went down, I feel sucker punched right in the stomach. I'm beyond stunned deeply disappointed at how Carolla handled this. It has made me feel a bit more cynical about the business you're in and about people you think you can trust and who will support you. I never thought he'd be so cold about it. It's really too bad.

Conan O'Brien was the most influential person in my childhood, and watching as he was brought crashing down from the peak of the late-night mountain due to slippery back-room dealings left a bitter taste in my mouth for the entertainment industry. Here was a genuinely good guy – a guy who paid his employees out of his own pocket during the writer's strike – full of talent, charisma, charm and good will, torpedoed into basic-cable oblivion because some asshole didn't like the spotlight to avert its beam from himself… if even for a moment.

History fucking tends to repeat itself, huh?

I hope you rise like the phoenix, Alison. 2014 was quite the year for you – a terrible yet fantastic explosion of what it means to be alive and breathing and human and I sincerely hope that you let it forge you into a stronger person instead of letting it breed bitterness.

Much love to you – for a person that I've never met I sure do care for you, and I know that I'm not alone when I say that whatever path you head down, I'll be there supporting you from the other side of the curtain.

We love you Alison. Looking forward to this podcast. As someone who has been listening to Carolla’s podcast on a daily basis since the beginning, I never thought he would cross the line for me to such a degree that I would seriously consider not listening or supporting him anymore … but he finally managed it. Best of luck to you and this new start.

Hi Alison! Can’t believe the news. I was a BIG fan of the dynamics of Adam’s show and I thought you were a strong pillar of why I enjoyed it. Your have a great voice and were very honest in everything shared. It felt very awkward to hear the news, and I’m sure it was for Adam and Baldy too. I’ll make a point of it now to subscribe to this podcast and look forward to your new success! I hope to see your show back on Stitcher too!

    Hey Alison,

The whole situation is sad for many reasons. I had to unsubscribe from Adams podcast after being a faithful listener, advocate and defender for 5 years and before that as a fan of his TV work and also Loveline. After all those retellings of how his radio PD didn't recognize the obvious talent of the comedians he wanted on his show to turn around and say you weren't good as a sidekick… then fire you seemingly without a warning… by email… at Christmas.

After all those talks about the loyalty of the fans getting him through the lawsuits and keeping the pirate ship afloat to then turn on a cast member, felt so heartless, hypocritical and really disappointing. I expected more of him.

Anyway, as usual, I'll still be listening to your show and look forward to see anything else you decide to do as an entertainer. Great work on the Jo Koy episode, by the way, to both you and Jo.

    Great podcast everyone!
My faith in the human / healing spirit has been renewed.

You addressed the elephant in the room with the correct amount of energy.

Highlight and where Alison's podcast “turned the page” was when the group “lost it” over Caelan's bathroom process. You could sense that the group was “reborn” like a Phoenix from the fire.

    Great topics.
    Again great episode.

F! Adam. Was a big “blind” fan of Adam… but will not listen anymore. On the ACS, I really would fast forward all his right wing rants. I know you have different opinions than him but you could never really express them. When Adam had “one-on-one” shows, I would not listen… Or if only Adam and BB, I wouldn't listen… guess this should have been a clue. I will follow you to the end of time!!!

The only time it makes sense to pour the cereal after the milk is when you only have a little bit of milk left in the carton. Nothing worse than having a full bowl of cereal with a half-bowl of milk.

A lot of people are gonna talk about recent news but I'm still here to talk turkey. As I kid I would pour milk before cereal with Cinnamon Toast Crunch because it's much tastier before it gets soggy (need dat crunch). I had a technique to spoon up the cereal with minimal interruption. It's not best for every cereal, but definitely a valid move.

It's easy to S on Adam's points, because often his points aren't right, but they are entertaining. I don't understand why Adam thinks of your role as a “sidekick”, when he already has Brian for that. Alison should have been the voice of reason, but Adam can't handle having the “news girl” be more intelligent than he is. He needs someone that instinctively just agrees with him on everything.

I'm glad to see Alison is rolling with the sucker punch. I'm as much of a car nut as Adam and I've been a fan for years but now I'm done. His rants were getting repetitious, and in a strange way, he may have realized that something was wrong and in the manner of all crass egotists and poor leaders, projected his inadequacies onto a member of his team. Even though I've dropped Adam, I will make a point of listening the next time DAG is on just to hear him call the new girl Fake Alison. In any event, Alison has the title to her first New York Times best seller: “Alison Rosen: Not Sidekick Material”.

In naming the new show, why have a traveling logo, The Kitchen Table, or Hanging with Friends seems appropriate, it's like listening to a group of friends in casual dinner discussion not like a group of people who are working/getting paid to be there. You all work together well as a group and I feel like I'm part of the discussion.

Weak spot? Pfft. Your pithy comments often zeroed in on the CRUX of the matter being discussed, and just as often summed up what was being dithered about. While I like Brian, I would not miss his absence on Carolla because he doesn't add much other than his movie reviews (which I appreciate); his sound effects don't add to the discussion (he's no Fred) and sometimes bury the spoken word. Not sure if I'll keep listening to Mr. Carolla. I'm a long timer, back to the radio days, and enjoy listening most of the time unless he gets on his high horse and bullys. it's his show, of course, but you were the sparkly sparkle at the nib. Jury's out on your yuk yuks-alot replacement as it's early days, but I miss you, luv. You (and Teresa) were pearls before swine.
I'm following you, and I hope you forge ahead. A dining room may set you free.

How about “The Pantry”? Where all your favorite carbs congregate… Like everyone else has posted here and elsewhere, I couldn't be happier that this show will go on. And I really hope the Thursday shows can continue for a long time. My husband and I love to listen to the show together, and we're also both fans of Adam since 1994. I'm glad Adam brought you into my (virtual) life. You really do feel like a best friend, even though we've never met. Count me in as a fan for life!

Alison, I'm sorry you got the hook in such a crappy manner.
However, notice the disrespect Carolla shows towards his own mother and father. We always hear his side of how horrible it was growing up Carolla, which has been a useful fiction for him as he built his act, but it's pretty sickening. Regardless of how somebody justifies it, the way someone speaks about their parents and spouse tells you everything you need to know about what is really in that person's heart.

Feel good that David Wild respectfully lit him up on his podcast about how he handled the firing. He came in and immediately pointed out that their was a self-hating Jew missing!

So, it was a great boost for your career, but if you had
stayed too long at the fair, it would have damaged your brand. You'd be known as the news girl on a show that's devolved into a platform for pushing liquor and gambling. You have way more class than to be a shill for bum wine and Draft Kings gambling. If you really miss it that much, bring some of the Carolla magic to your podcast by advertising penis pumps.

Still a fan of both you and Adam. It's a weird and uncomfortable (to say the least) situation for the both of you. You probably don't want me invoking Adam-isms at this time, but as he says, change is terrifying, but all the best things in life come with change. I think you were comfortable at that show, but it was capping your potential. Now that you've been thrust out into the wild, you finally have the imperative to move on toward greater things.

Also, I vote for your non-pirate ship mode of conveyance be a hot air balloon. The reasons should be obvious.

You probably don’t want me invoking Adam-isms at this time, but as he says, change is terrifying, but all the best things in life come with change. I think you were comfortable at that show, but it was capping your potential. Now that you’ve been thrust out into the wild, you finally have the imperative to move on toward greater things.

Also, I vote for your non-pirate ship mode of conveyance be a hot air balloon. The reasons should be obvious.

Tell Gary to relax and not to worry about the audio quality… Everyone is audible, and it sounds pretty good for being done in your dining room… The Aceman isn’t around to tear him a new one for it not being 100% studio quality…

I'm done with Carolla, even though for years he was my only podcast. He honestly needs to get over himself. Alison has amazing comedy chops, great timing, great insight, super witty, without being hurtful and was a delight to listen to for four years. AND she was a great foil and provided some very needed balance to the testosterone. I have switched over to her podcast from Adam's. I have patience for B.S., but not that much B.S. Alison did not deserve this. Neither did Adam's listeners. I am grateful she is providing an alternative.

You hit the nail on the head, Alison, when you said, “Yeah, but for FOUR YEARS?” It would be one thing if Adam got rid of you after a few months; are we now to assume that he has harbored dissatisfaction all this time? It's weird.

I've been listening to talk radio for over 20 years and I know when there's a lack of chemistry or when a particular group of people just aren't that fun to listen to. You were always a nice contrast to Adam and I really don't know what he means by “not sidekick material.” And yes it's true – your news segments were the highlight because they brought out the freshest comments from everyone. Maybe Adam wants something different in a newsgirl, maybe he thinks change will help spice up his show – and I guess that's fine – but he handled this poorly.

I agree with what everyone is saying on here. I have been a fan of ACS for over 4 years now, even a fan of Adam since Love Line! But when I tuned into his podcast on Monday and heard the news, I was shocked… then disgusted. I turned it off shortly after the banter about their radio days. I couldn't stand to listen anymore. I've been receiving updates on all new developments and still am disgusted on how Adam handled the situation. I feel that you bring that special something to the show. Even on days when you weren't there, I was disappointed that I couldn't hear your quirky laugh in the background!

I was so disheartened on Monday, but am glad that you will still be running with your podcast (which guiltily this was my first time listening to). I've since deleted the ACS app from my phone after so many years of my morning ritual! Now I am listening to NPR, but am looking forward to fill that gap with your wonderful voice, interesting views, and comedic wit. We all love you Alison and thank you for the times at ACS!

Great show guys! As for your new broadcasting “vessel,” I think it should be something that flies instead of something that just stays afloat. It'd be metaphorical like the pirate ship, but unique to you. Instead of the imagery of fans efforts pushing you forward, you could think of it as your fans efforts helping to lift you up, and be there for you through inevitable ups and downs. I think it sounds fitting, especially since you're “taking off” on your own now. But if you think you want to stay with a nautical themed image, or even take it to a sci-fi level, you could welcome your listeners aboard the Alison Rosen Friend-Ship… Get it?… GET IT?…… Yeah, you get it. ; )

Brother I'm doing the same thing. Deleted ACS and listening to NPR as a substitute. I'll admit I really miss ACS. This week I was mad that Alison left, but also mad that I lost ACS which was a big part of my daily routine. But try as I might I just can't stomach listening to ACS right now. Adam's actions don't line up with what he is preaching. Plus even if Alison left in the proper way, I would still miss her on the show. The three of them together was the magical formula, and now it is broken. Well I'm good now. Maybe I'll get more done in my life now that I'm not listening to ACS! he he he!

Alison, I'm glad you have good perspective on this. In the end this is only a job. It's only show business. Yes, the ACS team was a special formula that only comes once in a blue moon, and we all got to enjoy it while it lasted. But Alison look you have your own real family now. Daniel, Wendy, future baby, and R.I.P. Oliver. Larry Miller always says at the end of his podcast that, “..if you have a home to come return to, with someone who cares about you,,,, you've won!” So don't worry about us fans we will always love and support you. Show biz or not, always put your integrity, friends, and family first. God Bless you as to keep on this journey we call life.

My guess is that Adam didn't like the change in Alison's performance over the past six months. She had gotten better and better at her job and it seems he didn't like the competition.

Listen to the Norman Lear interview that was done recently. Alison did such a good job with it that Norm commented on it during the interview. The interview is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?… Norm talks about Alison's abilities at 1:24:11.

As a long time fan of the ACS I was worried when Teresa Strasser left. But you won everyone over and quickly became a big part of the show. The ACS is just not the same without you. I loved your chemistry with everyone, and how you fit in so well with your sense of humor. It was a real punch to the gut when I found out you were let go. I'm really bummed with the classless way Adam handled everything.

It would have been great if they had a “Best of Alison” show, looking back at your contributions, song parodies, etc. Listening to everyone on the show recall their favorite story about you and you telling yours. A good bye fake Teresa show as it were. Adam seems to be saying he doesn't want you to be stuck as his news reader, and thinks you need to leave to get to the next level. But he sure has a shitty way of saying it.

He really disappointed a lot of people with his excuse about your poor fit with the show. WTF! He will soon find out how hard it will be to replace you. He is the doucheist douche that ever douched! I just erased the ACS Amazon bookmark and replaced it with yours. You my friend will now be the benefactor of all my purchases from now on. Good luck with everything!

Downloaded every Carolla podcast until heard no more Alison. “This is not happening,” I said. I didn't realize until that moment how important to me Alison was for that show, listening to her laugh at his jokes, keeping quiet when appropriate. “Not a good sidekick” he said. He is poison to me now. I blame Personal Audio. They kicked him. He kicked Alison.

First time I listened to your podcast! I have to say your news on ACS was my favorite part of the show, you were able to bring Adam around to actually talking about some interesting stuff rather than the same tired old rants. I never thought about listening to your show before though, as I assumed it was just you interviewing celebrities, and I don't really care about hearing what celebrities have to say. Which is why I mostly fast-forward through those segments on Adam's show, too. Always enjoyed hearing about your life, though, so hope you'll do that on your show, and I enjoyed this one very much. You were the one I had hoped would win when he was doing his newsgirl tryouts, you really did the best, honestly, so I don't know why he now thinks someone else can come in and do better. He's putting the blame on other people why his show is getting tired when it's HIM who is getting tiring. Same old bitter rants, yelling at his employees, I'm getting tired of it. And I'm his fan from WAY back. His employees really should go on strike or unionize or something. What would he do without Gary and everyone keeping the pirate ship afloat???? Gary seemed so different on your show, I always thought he had a pissed-off attitude, but he is so relaxed and NICE on your show. Sad what Adam does to people. 🙁

    Alison,

Do you take Adam at his word? I do…..while you would have done fine on the show, it wasn't who you were. Your podcast showcases Alison Rosen and obviously you're thriving in this atmosphere. On Adam's show, I wouldn't say you substantively added to it being better because that's not what you do best….namely, help the star look better. You're good at being your own star and that can clash on a show like Adam's.

For instance, do you think your political views played a part in this decision? I think they did, not because they were different from Adam's, but because they became a hindrance. You couldn't report any 2-sided issue fairly which, ostensibly, should be a big part of your job description. You couldn't “yes, and” his points or even give a reasoned “devil's advocate” opposition that could lead to more discussion. You didn't share many of the same interests that Adam and co. did and really didn't want to. All of that is fine (and good too) IF you're not hired to be someone's sidekick.

No one should be fired by email though no matter what conversations were had in the past. I think you're handling it all very well and with a lot of class. While I disagree with a lot of your views and perspectives, I'm hopeful that you continue to be successful.

No one should be fired by email though no matter what conversations were had in the past. I think you’re handling it all very well and with a lot of class. While I disagree with a lot of your views and perspectives, I’m hopeful that you continue to be successful.

It's one thing for Adam to not have you back on his own show (which is dumb, because you were the best part of his show), but to not even let you continue to use the studio for your own show, or to stay on with Carolla Digital… WTF? Was that your call, or what happened there?

  123. Scoops January 12, 2015 at 12:28 pm #

What about a Parade Float for your vehicle? Caelan can be your driver hiding underneath the float. Everyone else will be on top giving fake hello's and waves.

No no. No one is buying that bullshit. If you can't see the flaw in Alison, Adam's newsgirl/sidekick, purposely distancing herself from him is a mistake I don't know what else to say. I mean if just half of what Adam says is true she should be removed.

    Alison,

I know you want to respond to Adam in your usual point-by-detailed-point style, but please DON'T

(We all know Adam has NO self esteem, right? LOL)

His response was petty and pathetic (but he has a pretty darn good excuse which I can relate to, ie. raised by wolves)

    Take the high road

    Love the show

    Cheers

Just goes to show Adam is a lying cocksucker. If Alison wasn't a “good fit” for ACS. Surely he would have kept her on the network. Even that cunt lynette parrots it back. Adam would still be picking up trash if not for Kimmel. I hope you die from cirrhosis you p.o.s.

Ok, in light of Adam's podcast on 1/12/15… he wants a sidekick that will “interview” him. Ok then. He should have made sure that Alison knew that long ago. But I accept and respect his comments on today's podcast. (1/12/15)

  130. Eric Klien January 12, 2015 at 5:41 pm #

I totally agree. Also talking too much will cause trouble for the BoBo boys.

Bald Bryan's show left Adam's network. Now Alison's show has left. Dr. Drew is always ranting on the air about how Adam's crew is scared of him. Finally, Adam is quite abusive to Drew on the Adam & Drew Show. People can figure out things on their own without having everything spelled out to them.

Wait … if the Amazon/Patent Troll thing is true … plus the Carolla network logo …

Ace is not evil. Alison is lovely and amazing, but was she really pro-Ace?

    If not, that's okay!

Those pregnancy book excerpts, they were really, really good. I wish you'd have kept them going, the Carolla situation aside. Maybe they're own separate 2-minute podcast episodes in the feed? They should at least be archived somewhere for the purposes of posterity. Or maybe released as an audiobook, chapter-by-chapter?

Just my 2 cents, but I really loved them.

I'm missing Alison on the show. But apparently, Adam continued to “dread” doing his own show after certain events, knowing that Alison and Bryan too, would not be interested, and he would have to discuss it himself, and then move on…instead of Alison asking some questions about it and at least acting a little interested in it so he could talk about it. Instead, it makes Adam sound like he's constantly tooting his own horn.

Alison will do great on her own; good luck.

Someone needs to tell him: Make better points, the kind that can't be 'shit on.' He has a weird controlling tendency that's among his least appealing traits.

Narcissism can be a little bit like having “no” self-esteem. It's also not a criticism, it is a diagnosis. It would be weird to think it was either a criticism or unlikely considering both nature and nurture would imply it. Wolves don't always raise wolves, but it's a good bet.

I dunno — I always thought Allison made great comments as a sidekick on Adam Carolla's show. Funny and smart.

But oh, well — maybe she'll move on to “RedEye” with Greg Gutfeld and make beaucoup many more smart & witty comments.

Dye your hair blonde so you can be on Fox News. Half joking. Keep the black hair. Call yourself “The Smart One.” Everyone thinks Fox is right wing, but what it really is is they just don't give a fuck about anything and all the other media leans liberal leaving them a business vacuum to fill. You'd be good on “The 5” as well. If you need any political opinions, just ask for them. Not all of your jokes need to be 10s. I know it feels dirty, but throw out more 7s just so nobody can ding you for holding back. Sometimes I feel like objective compliments are taken as backhanded because they don't feel like unconditional love. Fuck that. I don't have time for bullshit and seriously, I really don't know you from Adam's cat. Sorry, poor choice of words.

Apparently I'm the only person who totally supports Adam's decision and reasoning. She wasn't a fan. Nobody has made me laugh as much as Adam, and all of you here spilling your bile at him….admit it, he's funny as hell.
