Mary Lynn’s Jetsetting, Dave’s Jetta-Setting, Do You Remember This Dude?

International superstar and my real life friend Mary Lynn Rajskub makes her Thursday show debut and Dave Huntsberger is quick to point out that he is also my friend and yet I just glossed right over that. Daniel and I are hot to talk about LuLaRich—the documentary about MLM LuLaRoe—and we all share our own experiences with multi level marketing companies. Mary Lynn’s neighbor rides a one wheel. Could there be a love connection? Plus tracing old possessions, writing on money, dog farts again, iTunes Comments of the Week, Just Me Or Everyone and a new segment: Do You Remember This Dude?

Paul Rust’s Travel Mugs, Michael Cassady’s Dad’s Photo, A Word Pronunciation Quiz

Paul Rust and Michael Cassady are back! Michael’s broken into a new home with a different camera angle. Paul has some stuff to say about the Spice Girls. Also we break down how to work your way up from lowly passenger to pilot in one transatlantic flight. Tony didn’t have to go through the formal steps because he’s famous. We also talk about commuter mugs, broken glass, my interview with Emily Oster, The Eyes of Tammy Faye, words with regional pronunciations, caramel, the one where Monica words a turkey on her head and so much more.

Daniel and Alison (Your Calls and Daniel’s Texas Rant)

Daniel has some harsh words for Texas and he won’t back down. He also has harsh words for Alison who can barely hack attending preschool for three hours in the sun with Owen. Has Alison become even more accustomed to inactivity? A caller moved from California to Texas and feels it’s a big mistake. Another caller is moving to Canada. Alison thinks all moves are a little traumatic and Daniel disagrees which is so Daniel. Another caller claims to be Tony Thaxton but he sounds more like Greg Heller. Plus some TV Talk, Alison’s genius wearable/disposable tech idea and more.

Ken Reid’s Fancy Ear Piece, Robin Shorr’s Picnic Chic, Canadian Desserts

Something is different about Tony and he wants us to guess. And guess we do! Ken Reid is here and he’s stepped up his ear piece game. Robin Shorr makes her long awaited return from across the country where she’s just crashed a wedding. I tell a really vague story and also once again I make everyone discuss whether I should move to Rhode Island. Plus Canadian desserts, voiceover, vengeance, humidity, Just Me Or Everyone and more!

Emily Oster

Emily Oster is an economics professor and author whose hugely popular books—Expecting Better, Cribsheet, and her latest, The Family Firm—help parents make better decisions by analyzing data. Expecting Better was recommended to me by friend of show Mary Katharine Ham when I was pregnant with Elliot and I’ve been a fan ever since. She’s written numerous pieces during the pandemic about analyzing risk. Also, she holds a PhD from Harvard! We talked about what she loves about research, growing up the daughter of two Yale professors, the sausage roll disaster of 2020, whether she always wanted children, knowing she was done after two, her relationship with decisions, living in Rhode Island and why I should move there, hiking, being a morning person, what she was like in college, why you’re probably wrong about economics (I was), her newsletter, her favorite class in school and so much more. We also did a round of Just Me Or Everyone, HGFY and answered your questions.

Dave’s Nevadatude, Wendy’s Noisy Legs, An Animal Fart Quiz

Things take a spicy turn when David Huntsberger gets upset over Alison forgetting which way Nevada is pronounced. Wendy Molyneux is here and despite people constantly mispronouncing her last name, she’s yet to “pull a Dave.” Also, she has cellophane legs. I’ve been giggling over farts in general, which is a sign of my continued evolution and self-actualization in that I am truly taking pleasure in the small things. We listen to some gassy animals and try to determine who dealt it. Plus Just Me Or Everyone, Slim Slimmon’s Adorable Hour, Wendy’s singing finger and more.

Tony Thaxton

Producer/drummer/podcaster Tony Thaxton, AKA “The Bad Boy of Podcasting,” is back on my show as the main event when the scheduled guest needs to reschedule. Tony has been going through some stuff and I’d been hoping he would want to discuss it on the show. We do a Tony Wellness Check, discuss Kids Incorporated (recently featured on Tony’s podcast Bizarre Albums), Tony’s lack of dancing, pandemic anger, his divorce, the specifics of rejoining Motion City Soundtrack, grief during the pandemic, the recent loss of Brian Cain, Christmas songs, podcasting gear, hiking near a bear, dating and so much more. We also took your questions!

Dameshek’s Pint Glasses, Alison’s Office Crushes, Betsy Sodaro’s Anti-Fruit Stance

Does Dave Dameshek get paid to agree with Daniel instead of Alison? You would be forgiven for thinking so after this episode. Also, his wife won’t add to his pint glass collection and he has questions. Meanwhile Alison and Daniel got in a fight over a flyswatter and more. Also, Alison made an egregious error in a meeting earlier and is embarrassed. Betsy Sodaro is here and she’s not a fruit head. Also, she explains why she’s the last person in the world who should have a child. Plus a new segment which might be called Which is Worse? and Just Me Or Everyone!
