Someone was involved in a hit-and-run many, many years ago. Alison’s obsessed with Cirque du Soleil and also had a somewhat mortifying experience at the OBGYN. Jenna’s mom’s dream is for her children to gather ’round and enjoy cracking nuts without making a bunch of jokes. Plus Al’s miscalculation involving the Blue Man Group, What Does Al Know, acorns and kumquats, #SnackChat straight from Israel, a discussion of Greg’s plans and a round of Just Me Or Everyone.
Also, big news!! My Patreon page which I’ve been talking about for months is now live!!!!!

Politics is kind of my thing, I think there is a way to discuss politics. I didn’t have any problem with Alison’s comments. And it’s an interesting point that I never would have heard if politics can never be discussed. I don’t know how to generalize the “rules,” but keep to the facts, don’t denigrate other people’s preferences, don’t…put people in boxes…or baskets ;O etc. Do we get upset at the very thought of bringing up politics simply because we “know” one is not supposed to? Why do we do that? If I’m not actually offended, on whose behalf am I supposed to be getting offended by someone bringing up politics?
Here is another thing about that video that nobody has mentioned and I’ll break it here. Let me explain the joke: You have to remember that back then Trump was doing a lot of media. He was trying to be a celebrity. So, he was trying to yuck it up with Billy Bush. Here is The joke: you talk to a guy about someone you are about to see (it could be a guy, but here it was a lady). You say all these things you are going to do and say. Then when you are both in that person’s presence, all the person you were talking to (Billy) can think of is what you were saying. But if you look at the video Trump is almost shy around the lady and it is Bush who eggs him on.
Here is how I know about this joke. There was a group of guys and they were heading to meet their wives. One guy said “you know what the definition of a fine fine lady is? A fine fine lady is one who will _________.” Use your imagination. Then when the group gets to the wives, the guy announces loudly “And how are you fine fine ladies today!?” I’m sure you could come up with a female, or gender-neutral version of this gag.
Now, you can disagree or not believe me, but that ‘joke’ does exist, and if you watch the video, Trump does basically nothing to the lady. He’s basically a perfect gentleman. He even mentions his wife. So, how exactly would someone be offended by this comment?
You have to put it in context. It’s not solely the comments on that bus that is shaping what we think of that man. It’s everything from his fat shaming comments, to his comments on the physical appearance of just about everyone – man or woman, to his comments about his own damn daughter. Come on, Andrew, you gotta look at the whole picture.
Also, I’m SO SO SO sad about Greg. That guy brightens my day, makes me laugh so hard, and I truly look forward to hearing him on the Thursday shows. I really hope he comes back often to visit. 🙁
I guess Greg is happy from the Dodger’s win last night, people here in VA are down because the Nationals lost, but since I’m a Pirates fan (and they were done around mid-September) it doesn’t bother me.
Alison, do you ever think about interviewing the Thursday gang peeps for the Monday show? I think there’s still SO MUCH LEFT to know about Greg (as well as the rest of the gang) and it’ll be cool to see you interview them <3
