Jay Larson

Jay Larson

I met Jay Larson back when I was a guest on The CrabFeast and have wanted to have him on my show ever since. It finally happened and I learned all sorts of things about the man like the fact he has about 12 memories of his father, he now auditions for parts where the characters are described as “surprisingly handsome” which has got to be a bit of a kick in the nuts since he was THE SHIT in high school and definitely handsome in a way that was obvious not surprising, he lives life in the moment and he and his wife ride their bikes to the local playhouse. We also talked about fatherhood, how he met his wife, relationships in general, how he differs from his CrabFeast cohost Ryan Sickler, his love of rude people, Best Bars in America and so much more. Plus we took your questions over Twitter and did a round of Just Me Or Everyone.

If it wasn’t for “W”, a waffle would be affle (?) awful. Hmm I never realized how messed up that was until I tried to write it out just now. Either way Nerd Punk Jeff would have a tough time with his annual resolution. btw Love the new look.

Your appearance on Crabfeast was how I was introduced to their podcast. It was such an awesome episode with great stories, particularly how you accidentally dated a racist, which you seemed to vaguely reference on this show (though I don’t think Jay caught/connected the reference.).
This was a good episode. I do wonder if he misrepresented himself though. I listen to the Crabfeast sometimes, but not enough to know the ins and outs of Jay’s humanity, I’ll have to admit. I didn’t connect with him saying that it feels good to be rude to somebody if they’re rude to him. For me, I more focus on the fact that somebody was rude to me and don’t get satisfaction in being rude in return, though I’m typically not rude in return, since I’m one of those people who think of the zinger that I could’ve said after the opportunity has passed. I also thought he sounded a bit harsh about his mother when asked how she felt about him trying to have a relationship with his absentee father. I don’t know that he meant to come off as harsh as he sounded, but it surprised me since she had a nice appearance on The Crabfeast a couple of weeks ago, which is probably why his response surprised me.
I think it’s very cool that he tries to make life magical and fun for his wife and kids. He seems very close to his son.
