Tonight I'll be sitting down with Marie Claire editor Koryn (yes, that Koryn!) to discuss the Project Runway finale in a special bonus episode of my show. Watch here at 11pm ET. We'll answer your questions about all things fashion and Project Runway. Yay! http://ustream.tv/alisonrosen
Fun show!
I was surprised to find out that not all women love Ann Taylor. I thought women shopped there like guys shop at Home Depot. But then, what do I know about women’s shipping habits? Not much.
We also found out that Boinkity needs a butter shave and a makeover, and that Alison looks fantastic in black. I was surprised to find out that we had a stricter dress code where I used to work (a computer s/w company) than at Marie Claire!
I also posted that I just finished reading Oprah by Kitty Kelley. Not the kind of book I usually read, but I enjoyed it. It’s very well written and documented. Long time Oprah followers probably already know a lot of what’s in it, but most of it was new to me. I think Oprah is very talented, but she also LOVES shopping and buying things. I believe it’s called conspicious consumption. She has several large mansions with rooms and rooms and rooms filled with clothes and STUFF from all her shopping sprees. She’s become obsessed with privacy. Everyone who works for her and everyone who appears on her show must sign strict confidentiality agreements.
It was interesting reading about how her show went from sensational topics (hookers, transexuals, incest) in the first 10 years to New Age and then to Change Your Life topics. The show has reflected the changes she’s gone through in her life. I was surprised to find out how meticulously scripted every show is and how every audience is instructed how to react during the show. They practice cheering, laughing and applauding before the show begins.
