Costa Mesa

So I started thinking about Costa Mesa and the bands that used to play here and all the articles I wrote about them when I first started writing for the OC Weekly. Here is one, about The Women, who were great (and who were guys). It’s a little overwrought maybe, but I felt like I’d been on an odyssey with the singer.

ADDENDUM: this one’s even more overwrought, like I actually cringe at a few lines perhaps involving the words “tangle of demons” and something about things that drive you towards greatness but anyway, it feels like the bookend to the one above.

I have to say that I do enjoy your writing. It’s writing you can see and feel, funny or serious. Even your so called “overwrought” writing put you somewhere in the middle of scene. The coffee is wearing off, I’m not sure if I’m making any sense. Oh well.

Just read the articles. My over-all thought is I like seeing people turn things around in life.

I’m enjoying listening to my cd from Kanye West. One of my fav’s is “Flashing Lights.”

I enjoyed both of those articles. I wish I could write well ~sigh~

Speaking of demons, it’s just about time for that Champagne Coolie I was thinking about this morning. Or something similar.

Michael’s list of why he is an Alison Rosen fan: ( I like talking about myself in the 3rd person.)

    1) She’s unpredictably funny.

    2) She’s smart.

    3) She makes me look up big words, which I like.

    4) I like to read.

    5) I’ve always liked english, by that I mean, when I was growing up, I was one of those little punks that went around correcting everyone’s grammar. Man, I got on people’s nerves with that. What can I say? Note: I don’t do that any longer. Especially living in the south. I mean c’mon.

    6) She’s witty.

    7) And let’s not kid ourselves, she’s easy on the eyes.

    Michael.

Well done Michael! I totally agree with your list but would add #8 She Rocks (like in the musical kind of way).

I think this is the longest stretch that Alison hasn’t posted which means Ted has created the top 5 list of reasons why I miss her posts:

    5. I’m forced to look at Kerry Howley’s Blog (The most depressing blog on the planet).

    4. I miss typing reply comments in the third person.

    3. This blog is like an episode of Cheers (I miss the regulars after a couple of days).

    2. This was the first and really the only blog I truly follow. It has become part of my daily web routine and I enjoy reading someone that is so brilliant!

    1. Alison doesn’t pretend to be something or someone that she isn’t. On these other blogs, people are complete fakes. I won’t name names but trust me when I say that some of these people think they are all that and a bag of chips and they aren’t. In real life, I wouldn’t give most of these blog owners that I view the time of day. I know Alison’s faithful bloggers enjoy her writing and support her efforts because she is the real deal!

    WE ALL MISS YOU GURL.

Please come back posting as soon as you can!!!!!

Let’s make it an even dozen….

Five more reasons why RosenFans love their Alison:

    8) She’s not afraid of bombs that explode in Times Square.

    9) She would make an excellent First Lady (take THAT Cindy McCain, Michelle Obama and Bill Clinton!)

    10) She makes some damn good Lasagne. YUmmmmm!

    11) As Senior Editor, she don’t take no crap.

    12) She knows all about the Facts of Life. (And you know EXACTLY what I’m talkin’ about, people!)

Well, I guess it’s official – “We miss our Alison!”

Your going to force the Jerk Sauce Band (Michael, Joe, Anonymous and myself) to sing an acappella version of Elvis Costello’s “Alison” to show our fan devotion! We are going to make the lyrics more upbeat though! FYI – Anonymous is a really hot female lead singer…I think?

Don’t make us start throwing down some “Alison is so hot” word plays! Cuz we will Miss Rosen!
