Greg's message was fun, but Jenna's and Al's mini episode message was the best ever, except that dang fruit song has been back in my head all day. I even started humming it in front of somebody at work today, which was only mildly embarrassing. In Maine, servers are only paid about $3 an hour, so tips are vital to them. We believe in a $20 tip and we won't go out to eat with somebody twice if they're bad tippers. I believe that if we can afford to go out to eat and have somebody serve us, we can afford to pay them for their service. I don't know any servers around here who are even close to rich from being a server. Then again, I don't live in a place with lots of fancy restaurants.
You CAN dry your bra if you wear the kind without underwire. I hate underwire. The bras I wear don't have them but have a bit of padding on the bottom of the cup that act as such for support. Magic and so comfortable. And I don't have to dig through all my other clothes in the washer to pull it out before tossing everything in the dryer. 🙂
Whew. We always leave 15%. If people were expected to leave $20 every time we went out, even for a $30 bill (we try to save money and forego drinks and just drink water) then I guess us non-well off types just don't deserve to go out to eat at all. And then I guess restaurants would have to lay off servers because they wouldn't be getting as much business due to us low-lifes not being welcome. 😉 I believe it shouldn't be on the customer to make up the wages that the restaurants don't pay their own employees. What if all businesses were run like that? “Oh, if you can't afford to tip the person who bags your groceries maybe you shouldn't go grocery shopping!” “Oh if you can't afford to tip your preschool teacher maybe you should keep your kid out of daycare!” “Oh if you can't afford to tip the perfume lady at Macy's maybe you just shouldn't be buying expensive perfume!” It is crazy that restaurants are allowed to get away with paying under the minimum wage and the law should be changed.

Great show once again. I played the Kim Joneses message for my 15yo daughter and when they started singing, she backed out of the room as if I was insane. 🙂
The issue in many states is that labor laws have been “manipulated” by certain strong interests and wage and hour laws are full of cut outs (where the law doesn't apply or a different law applies) such as mining, farming, public service and yes restaurant and hospitality industry jobs. A half a million years ago when I was a server at a few restaurants while I picked up the software engineer trade, my hourly rate was $1.60 an hour (even then minimum wage was $2.50 an hour) this was completely legal, the thing that s*cked was during this time, the IRS instituted minimum with holdings on “tips” meaning my meager pay check had deductions for tips I may or may not have actually earned (if I wanted to track to the penny every tip I received (which I was technically supposed to do – but almost no server did, they just accepted the IRS's basic with holding – sure Uncle Sam that's what I made in tips) in my case working at coffee shop type restaurants the withholding was actually pretty accurate but it did cause a big brewhaha when it was first instituted because it seemed like we were being taxed on money we maybe wouldn't make and would have to wait until tax filing to get it back. I too am a very generous tipper and I can think of less than a handful of times that I “punished” the wait staff for poor service, poor food etc. I simply give that establishment one more chance then I just don't go there anymore. In addition to the above experience, I grew up in the business and spent my childhood helping and listening to the very experienced high end wait staff employed by my father's upscale dinner houses, and really understood what the job was all about and how the general public can often act like spoiled children. It's kind of shameful actually. During my time as a waitress, I was constantly hit on and worse sometimes physically groped by customers who'd been over served at a bar and had come in with their buddies to “sober up” (like that is actually a thing) – one time after several rude boob gropes and disgusting verbal suggestions, this guy reached under my waitress uniform and grabbed my crotch – I had a pot of boiling hot coffee in my hand and was stopped by an observant coworker who prevented me from allowing the coffee to “accidently” land in this guys lap (oh the good old days – I never miss dealing with the public and I tip a minimum of 20 percent because I've been in their shoes and know they pinch a bit). I also will not go out with people who tip severely bad. I know that is sort of judgmental but everyone has their “things” that's one of mine.
Former pizza person: Car insurance isn't paid by the company. There is a minimal reimbursement for mileage but, by the time I quit in 2010, they were making less than minimum wage.
