Not a huge issue, but Dave didn't make much sense (to me) when trying to explain the adversity between Sweden's neighboring countries Norway, Finland and Denmark and Sweden itself. I'm an american living in Sweden as of over 40 years. We don't really give much thought over here to the Viking era as he explained was at the bottom of things.

Instead it's much more a modern day issue. Sweden is close to or more than twice the population than either of the three surrounding countries. Sweden has also an historic past where it ruled and/or occupied parts of Norway & Finland. Norway for instance hasn't been independent from Sweden for more than one century now. We also kept out of world war II by claiming neutrality, that must of sucked if your own country was under occupation by German Nazis at the very same time…

Sweden also has had a better economy than any other of the three neighbors for most modern time (the exception being Norway with oil income for a few of the past decades). So resentment might kind of run high with the past history we've had. Sweden is also like a thriving big brother that takes all the space at least according to it's younger siblings…

Not to worry though, we have a tradition here in Sweden of getting back at Norway by telling jokes about Norwegians like Americans tell Pollack jokes. And we say Danes talk like they have porridge stuck in their throats. And the Finns, they are all into drinking vodka and knife fighting all day long. So the smack talk between countries sort of evens itself out…

I wasn't sure if Dave was being serious about the Vikings thing or if it was a bit.:)
I love that Dave considers himself a feminist.
I love the list of people that you want for future shows!
It's great that he took the time to do your show again, even though he was only in town for a quick trip. You must've made a good impression on him.
I love these 2 hour episodes that you're doing lately

“I'm your husband and I'm here to help.” Didn't I read somewhere that those are dangerous words?

Speaking of socks, what a coincidence — I also had a recent sock incident. I had a medical “procedure” (shudder) yesterday, and today I'm still wearing those treaded mud-grip socks they give you in case you have to peel out quick. So I'm well shod today, hot to trot and looking for a place to race.

In my experience every Scandinavian and/or Nordic country thinks they are pretty great and everyone else is just meh. Makes sense. Everyone roots for their own team. 🙂

I like Dave. He is very chill but not like “no pulse” chill – does that make sense? My favorite quote from this ep was Dave saying, “I hope I podcasted ok” What a delight!
