Alright, the gaming discussion… listening to you guys flub around on this one was somewhat painful. So, here are some facts and a couple game suggestions (also, please get a gamer on the show, possibly TotalBisuit from youtube or even Morgan Webb if you want to get into it again):

Twitch was bought by Amazon after Google backed out of the buy. They bought it for $970 Million (final price). Twitch is basically like a live streaming version of Youtube, but concentrated on gaming. The girls who game on Twitch are actually gamers, tits and ass aren't the driving factor in this realm. There are a couple of game types that pull in the most viewers, these are MMOG (Massively Multiplayer Online Games) and MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas). The biggest MMO is World of Warcraft (WoW) from Blizzard Entertainment. The streams that tend to get the most views are end game raid teams going for world first. This is close to your football analogy. Basically, the best of the best are competing for money and bragging rights to defeat an extremely advanced part of the game before another team can. The biggest MOBA is League of Legends (LoL) from Riot Games. Some of the teams that play this are world famous. They fill actual, real world, stadiums when the top players play. (ex. http://www.destructoid.com/lea… ) This game type is the closest to a sport.

Those are the main draws, but there are quite a few little nitch channels. For instance, there was a thing called P.T. that came out recently. P.T. stands for Playable Trailer. This playable trailer was for a new Silent Hill game that is coming out, starring Norman Reedus. It's very scary, so hundreds of thousands of people watched different streamers try to play through it, just to see and hear the varied reactions. Personally, I thought that this girl was hilarious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?…

One of the things that has made Twitch gain traction has been the fact that the PS4 (Playstation 4) was released with Twitch integrated into the system. So, if you're just sitting there playing a game, and did something cool, you can just hit a button on your controller and immediately start streaming. The other aspect that has made it so popular is live interaction. The person playing is talking to the audience who's talking back in a chat window while the game is going on.

Jesus, this has become long.. anyway, here's some game suggestions:

Mass Effect series (there are three of them). Great storyline, and your choices matter.

The Walking Dead series (these are ongoing. It's like the show except that you are a character in it… your choices matter. This one's dark).

Little Big Planet (it's adorable, and there are a bunch of things that you can accessorize with).

The Last of Us (this one has a great story, but is very dark).

Skyrim (beautiful, good story which you can completely ignore while traipsing through the mountains)

    For PC and Mac:

Civilisation V (World builder, politics, exploring)

World of Warcraft (if you want to forget about life, this will help)

Hearthstone (Card game, you can compete with other people or just play the PC.)

Portal 2 (Puzzle game, a lot of humor)

that was actually informative, so thanks, but it's pretty laughable to say that, “some of the teams that play this are world famous.” you can't call someone 'world famous' if 99.99% of the world's population couldn't pick them out of a lineup.

Wow, I'm an idiot, and never realized that instead of an cutting you open, that they were going to access your uterus through the far more convenient passage they did…

    Always learning something new!!!

That's true, but within gaming they are. For instance, there are world famous soccer players, but most of the world's population that's not into soccer, could name them. The people that are into soccer know who they are immediately, though. So, an addendum, “world famous within competitive gaming.

I have mint problems. The fresh impact mint knocks me on the floor. Yikes!

Alison, did you ever have your wedding reception and was it at Mark G's house? I've been waiting to hear about it all summer.
