I think Matt Fondiler is way more engaging in his movie reviews. Alison you should consider having a competing segment on your Thursday show to Bryan's Baldywood and call it Fondlewood. It would be great!

    Crew – good podcast,

On the wedding gift registry nobody wants to give cash because it is unseemly.

I just learned from Jenna that a gift is just “returned for cash”.

Your group is from a different generation – gifts used to be given and never returned. Gary's Mom is correct in that they believe that you will use the platter even if you do not particularly like the platter – the thought is what counts.

Paying someone for a honeymoon that they cannot afford is also unseemly.

It feels wrong to everyone – because it is wrong. Your group is just justifying accepting cash.

Alison is correct that her and “Daniel's” age dictates that they are not in need of wedding gifts because they already have household items.

My suggestion is that you have a “reception/party planner” who collects cash or party favors for the party that you want to give for the wedding celebration. Make all the money go toward a band, flowers, cleanup at the Geragos estate, and a dinner certificate to Mark Geragos and his wife for the offer of his house.

Be adults and PAY FOR YOUR OWN HONEYMOON.

Thank you for letting me vent – Please do not take the cash to pocket – you will feel better about it. “Daniel” will thank you for it later.

I hope you post this – thank you.

Can't wait for the Daniel episode / Daniel week!!!!

I once heard or read somewhere about how relationships should be like rubber bands – you stretch out to engage with friends, solo activities, hobbies, etc and then you come back together and it's healthier that way. Actually, I think Dr. Phil wrote that in one of his books. I hate Dr. Phil, but I think he is right on the whole rubber band relationship thing.

At any rate, Daniel sounds like a great guy and how sweet that he wants to meet Alison's every need. Sounds like a keeper. It gives me hope!

Also, Alison, you have perfect eyebrows and I love you.

I apologize if this comment already posted…I just typed it not knowing I needed an account. So I just created an account and it seems like my original post disappeared.

    So here goes:
I was thinking today that I would love it if Alison would do 1:1 interviews with each of the Thursday bunch (Gary, Chris, Matt, Jenna). The listeners do get to learn about each of you in bits and pieces on the Thursday shows, but I think it would be great to get to know each of you better!

I have no musical talent but I would love to hear an ARIYNBF fan submission competition of Facts of life theme song rearranged and the winner would get to be played at Alison's June wedding/party. Imagine Alison walking down the aisle to a violin and cello version or a Matt dancing in roller blades to a reggae version at the party. The possibilities are endless.

    Don't worry Kristina, I'm right behind you – a single 36 year old. 🙂

Alison, don't listen to this. This is shaming and pearl clutching. Disregard, swerve, etc.

Eh. My cousin did the honeyfund thing and nobody was upset even when they used the money as part of a down payment on a house and never took the honeymoon. I even added to their honeyfund as a Christmas present that year.

Make a registry just in case and don't return gifts from pearl-clutchers. They will be upset if their ugly vase isn't on display every time they come to your house. So try to limit the registry to things you actually could use.

I have a fancy ($20) memory foam pillow and a cheap ($5) pillow. Bed Bath and Beyond is a ripoff. Stick to Target.

I've always thought that nightmares are your brain's way of waking you up before your arms go numb from being above your head while you are sleeping. Not sure how scientific that is but it makes sense…

Hi Alison, thanks for the great conversation about registries. We at Honeyfund definitely recommend having at least one small traditional registry for those who don't “get” the honeyfund concept, or who really want to buy you that “starting your life bowl.” 😉 Ping us any time you have questions! sara at honeyfund dot com – Sara & Josh
